Because dentistry and oral surgery is all we do, we are your best choice for excellent and specialized dental care for your beloved pet.

Our doctors have had years of advanced training in dentistry and oral surgery. Beyond even the extensive boarding process we have taken even more advanced training in disciplines that include fracture repair, oral cancer surgery, endodontics, exodontics, and periodontics. We see cases that range from routine oral hygiene to the most advanced oral surgery for pets. We also have advanced training in anesthesia and pain management for pets, allowing us to manage high risk patients’ dentistry needs.

We are located inside the Veterinary Referral Center in Farragut, TN which is conveniently located close to specialty centers that give us access to many ancillary services, such as echocardiography, intensive care, internal medicine, and emergency care.

Meet Our Doctors

of Experienced Pet Dentistry Specialists

Sharon Startup DVM, DAVDC graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She began her veterinary career in Knoxville TN in 1985 where she owned a veterinary hospital for many years before she began pursuing specialty dentistry. She pursued advanced training in dentistry and oral surgery so that she could provide the best dental care for her patients.

Dr. Katy Burton graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2000. Dr. Burton practiced as an associate veterinarian at Lange Animal Hospital in Knoxville for 20 years prior to joining Animal Dental Services. Her interest in dentistry began to grow in general practice after receiving continuing education from Dr. Startup and she joined the team at ADS in January 2021.

Dr. Martin Kennedy is a Board-Certified Veterinary Anesthesiologist™. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin. Upon his graduation, he completed a rotating internship with the University of Minnesota.
